How to Avoid Emotional Disorder

Emotional disorders are mental or psychological disorders which are characterized by abnormal physical and mental disabilities or activities or characteristics over a long period of time which are very difficult to define. This disorder is so powerful that it can surpass the mental state of the person and affect his physical status, personal relationships and social well being. Research on the cause of emotional disorders has shown that the way the brain receives and processes information is different for children with some types of disorders than for those who do not have those problems. There is no known cause for this disorder but possible causes include biological factors such as genetic, neurological etc., family stressful events during childhood, social interferences and cultural factors. The root cause of the disease can keep changing as time and years passes by. According to Psychiatric Association, emotional disorders are classified into many like conduct disorder, attention problems, motor excess, socialized aggression, psychotic behavior, anxiety and withdrawal.

TWP TIPS

  • If emotional disorder in a patient is detected, primary prevention is impossible. A secondary prevention method to lessen the severity should be carried out.
  • Only a psychologist or behavior specialist can diagnose emotional disorder exactly based on the symptoms shown by the patient. When the situation is detected at the earliest, they are cured immediately.
  • The best medicine is to understand and find best ways to improve the symptoms by paying more attention.
  • Mental mining, structured learning, developing self control etc can also help. Involve the person in setting academic and personal goals. Help him/her strive towards it.
  • As far as mental disorders are concerned, treatment usually combines pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches.
  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy is another common method used to reduce the symptoms of emotional disorder. Provide and teach opportunities for the individual to use self control/self monitoring techniques to control behavior.
  • Relaxation training/techniques and biofeedback are also some common techniques used to avoid the symptoms of the disease. Teach self talk to relieve stress and anxiety. Redirect the individual to avoid situations that may increase anxiety levels.
  • Family and family support plays an important role in improving the condition and reducing the symptoms of the disorder. Communication of the individual (with emotional disorder) with parents/family members should be encouraged so that strategies are consistent at home/school/office and other places.
  • Help the person develop, acknowledge and reinforce acceptable behavior. Provide the person with highly structured environment. Provide a positive and encouraging environment.

Comment:

It is really important to know about what are the emotional disorders because if you do not know about them, how can you avoid them? So, it is sad to see how some people prefer to wait and have the disorder instead of prevent it. For example, the typical person who always gets angry over little things and develops an anxiety disorder. It does not happen only in the mental health, because we can see a lot of cases in the physical health, for example the people who always eat junk food knowing that this kind of food is really bad for their organism. In addition, we are responsibles of our own lifes, however, it is important to mention that some people do not have the enough information to avoid all this kind of emotional and mental diseases, so unfortunately they are unnoticed by others. On the other hand, to recognize what are the principal measures for preventing mental and emotional disorders, it will ensure a healthy and safe life at all. For that reason, to pay attention to the importance to have good relationships, for example, can give you a better life.

In my personal opinion, I would like to improve preventive measures like relaxation and self-control techniques in schools and colleges, because they are growing and I think that childhood and adolescence are the best times to teach them how to deal with life in an emotionally healthy way. That is what I agree with teach others about how to avoid emotional disorders and I would like that other psychologists take this challenge. So, I reflect that this article can make the difference and I do not know, maybe some persons found my blog and read this post and they start to change his/her life. I am sure that it would be a good thing for the psychology because this science seeks the best for the human.
