As a personal opinion I truly think any psychologist believe that the first step to deal with depression it is to accept you are having a disorder that had change your lifestyle, damaging your mental health and your sense of life.
If you always try to smile and be positive and enjoy simple thing of life, this will help you have a spiritual sense and your emotions in harmony, with a good therapy you will enjoy life beating your issue and finding your mental health
I think in this video we can see how this psychiatrist says a real fact about a global disorder as it is “Depression”The psychiatrist metioned a definition of depression : "Depression it is a bad think about life, bad feelings, negative attitude, showing disinterest about life, and sadly nowadays it is consider as one of the worst mental health disorders." The psychiatrist mentioned some characterizes symptoms, treatments, and issues that are involved in the person way of think when a person it having or experimenting depression. .

Many depressed people eat, spend money excessively, abuse addictive substances, or have sex without love to feel better. It is better to eliminate these and any other subtle rewards for depressive behavior.
